My approach
Welcome. The main approach of my Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT) framework is that I “meet” clients where they are in order to create a space for clients to reflect, grow, and feel empowered within their rights and choices. My framework incorporates dance/movement therapy technique, supported by trauma-informed yoga, psychodynamic, humanistic, and interpersonal group theories. I see a core value is that a creative process can be transformational.
Through my movement therapy lens, I work with clients through verbal (talk therapy) and non-verbal (movement, breath, and creative modalities) according to what feels right for the client. Within this process, I create a space where clients are able to connect the mind and body experience, as well as become aware of unconscious expression that may be verbally challenging to express due to the emotion/expression being socially unacceptable, repressed, etc. By creating a safe space, this expression supports my participants’ growth of ideas, feelings, choices, etc. I look forward to collaborating with you in our therapeutic relationship.
